Find the real economic drivers, leading indicators, risks, and questions behind the headline numbers.
Hi, I'm Peter. I manage an investment fund, and for years I felt like I was on the administrative treadmill. Brokerage activity, accruals, cash, financial statements, partner reporting, service-provider reviews, and my own spreadsheets all had to work before I could get to the work I actually wanted to do: research and making investment decisions.
I outsourced pieces of the process and added point solutions along the way. But every month-end and quarter-end, I still spent hours, and sometimes days, checking work, fixing problems, and rebuilding the picture. Ironically, as the fund grew and the services I used grew, the administrative burden grew with it - things got harder, not easier.
Then my fund administrator called to tell me their business was shutting down. The obvious option was to move everything to another provider and pay thousands more.
Instead, I stepped back and asked a different question:
I defined the end state first. Then I worked backward through the data, systems, and recurring workflows, simplified what I could, and automated what made sense.
My month-end process became dramatically faster and more reliable. Then I applied the same thinking to my investment process and built the owner views I actually wanted: the key questions, metrics, risks, and decisions in one place.
The biggest change was not the dashboard. I stopped chasing the information and started using it.
That experience changed how I thought about operating a business. I realized the same problem exists almost everywhere: businesses often have plenty of data, tools, and reports, but still cannot quickly answer the questions that matter.
That is why I started CairnVoyant.
With more than 15 years of professional investing experience, I bring a deep understanding of how businesses make money, what drives their economics, where risks build, and which questions actually matter.

I built these systems because I needed them to run my own business faster and more reliably.
Work backward from the answer and build practical systems around how the business actually operates.
Every project starts with understanding the business. No canned product. No handoff to a junior implementation team. Just hands-on work built around the problem you actually need solved.
